Scientists later classified the meteorite as an ordinary chondrite, specifically an L6 chondrite, meaning it is a stony meteorite that originated from an asteroid and experienced significant thermal metamorphism early in its history. Laboratory analysis showed that the rock formed about 4.56 billion years ago—roughly 20 million years before Earth itself formed—making it a remarkably ancient relic from the birth of our solar system.
