Pallasites are thought to have formed near the \u003cspan class=\"s1\"\u003eboundary between the metal core and rocky mantle\u003c\/span\u003e of a differentiated asteroid, where brilliant olivine crystals became embedded within molten iron-nickel metal. Weathering has transformed much of the original metal in NWA 18082 into iron oxides.
