Shallow, parallel grooves that appear on the surface of a meteorite’s fusion crust as it burns through Earth’s atmosphere. They form when molten material on the surface is dragged by high-speed airflow, essentially “flowing” across the rock before quickly cooling. These streaks often curve around edges or follow aerodynamic paths, giving clues about how the meteorite oriented and traveled during its fiery descent.
