This 1061 gram (2.3lb) chondritic meteorite slice has everything you could want! It contains numerous metal flecks throughout, shock and melt veins from prior impact events, rounded chondrules from the early period of our solar system, and brecciation. This slice would be tremendous for display or meteorite education because it showcases many elements commonly found in meteorites, all in one place. It's also sturdy due to its thickness, making it easier to handle safely. This meteorite was recovered from the desert of Northwest Africa in 2023. It is unclassified, but it exhibits characteristics similar to those of a chondrite.

This meteorite is not just a collectible; it’s an educational tool that brings the mystery and science of space directly into your hands.

Your purchase includes the exact stone pictured, a Certificate of Authenticity, a custom 3D printed display stand, and a lunar surprise 🌙

The blue scale cube displayed in some of the photos is 1 cm x 1 cm x 1 cm and is used only to represent scale. It is not included in your purchase.

Unique Features of This Meteorite

--Ordinary Chondrite--

Ordinary chondrites make up about 85% of all known falls. They are stony meteorites composed primarily of silicate minerals like olivine and pyroxene, with small amounts of nickel-iron metal and chondrules—tiny, spherical grains that formed in the early solar system. Their composition provides valuable insights into the building blocks of planets and the history of our solar system.

--Shock Veins--
Dark, glassy veins running through a meteorite, formed by intense pressure and heat during collisions in space or upon impact with Earth. They are composed of fractured and melted material, often containing unique high-pressure minerals that reveal the intensity of the shock event.

--Melt--
Thin, glassy streaks or bands within a meteorite, formed by intense heat and pressure during high-energy impacts in space. These veins consist of rapidly cooled molten material, often containing high-pressure minerals, which provide insights into the violent conditions of meteorite formation.

--Breccia--
A type of meteorite composed of angular fragments of minerals or rock cemented together, indicating a history of impacts and fragmentation in space.

--Chondrules--
Small, spherical particles found in some meteorites, particularly in chondrites. These are believed to be some of the oldest solid materials in our solar system.
