This 6.6 gram meteorite is a fragment of the moon! The International Society for Meteoritics and Planetary Sciences classifies it as Adrar 17.
Adrar 17 is a remarkable lunar meteorite discovered in Algeria in 2025. Classified as a troctolitic anorthosite breccia (one of only 17 of its type), it represents material from the Moon’s ancient highland crust and is composed predominantly of calcium-rich plagioclase, with smaller amounts of olivine and pyroxene. The meteorite has a distinctive brecciated appearance, with centimeter-scale gray-green clasts embedded in a darker matrix, along with pockets of impact melt—evidence of the intense collisions that repeatedly reshaped the lunar surface.

These rocks are associated with the Moon’s ancient highlands and formed early in lunar history as the Moon’s magma ocean cooled and differentiated. They provide an important record of the formation and evolution of the Moon’s primordial crust.
