The Franconia meteorite was discovered in the deserts of northwestern Arizona near the historic Franconia area along old Route 66, a region that has become one of the most famous meteorite hunting locations in North America. Classified as an H5 ordinary chondrite, Franconia formed more than 4.5 billion years ago during the earliest stages of our solar system. The dry desert environment helped preserve meteorites on the surface, allowing dedicated hunters to recover many specimens over the years. Because of its rich discovery history, accessibility to collectors, and connection to one of America’s most productive meteorite fields, Franconia remains a favorite among both beginning and experienced meteorite enthusiasts.

This 15.97 gram individual stone has a rounded shape with some flecks of nickel-iron metal visible on the exterior.
