About Meteorite Fall NWA 869:

• NWA 869 was discovered in Northwest Africa (across Algeria and Morocco) in the year 2000. 
• These stones are classified as an "Ordinary Chondrite". While anything but ordinary, this meteorite class makes up around 85% of known meteorite falls. 
• Stones from this fall are often referred to as a "meteorite science classroom in a single rock" because they exhibit characteristics of different stone meteorite types in a single mass. 
• These stones are considered regolith breccia and likely come from the surface of a parent asteroid that formed in space. 
• An NWA 869 meteorite is approximately 4.56 billion years old.
